If you don't suffer from back pain, there's a good chance that someone in your family or your workplace does. About 80% of the population will suffer from back pain during their active lives. In fact, back pain is one of the most common work-related injuries; it is the second leading cause of missed workdays after the common cold. A typical response to experiencing back pain is to take it easy by either staying in bed or at least stopping any activity that is at all strenuous. While this approach is understandable and may even be recommended in the short term, when done for more than a day or two it can actually undermine healing. Instead, active forms of back exercises are almost always necessary to rehabilitate the spine and help alleviate back pain.

Before beginning any exercise program, you should discuss the program with your doctor and follow the doctor's advice. It is important to exercise regularly, every other day. Before exercising you should warm up with slow, rhythmic exercises; if you haven't exercised in some time, you can warm up by walking. Inhale deeply before each repetition of an exercise and exhale when performing each repetition. Exercise is to strengthen your muscles.

Save the girl child !!

Save the
girl child !!

'How sad, many girls missing from our country are found buried in some graveyard....

India is growing dynamically in every fields. Today, the boom in economy, innovative technologies and improved infrastructure has become nation's pride. The country has witnessed advancements in all fields but bias against a girl child is still prevailing in the country.
This social evil is deep rooted in Indian ethos and the most shocking fact is that the innovative and hard high end technologies are brutally killing the Indian girl child. Innovative techniques, like biopsy, ultrasound, scan tests and amniocentesis, devised to detect genetic abnormalities, are highly misused by number of families to detect gender of the unborn child. These clinical tests are highly contributing to the rise in genocide of the unborn girl child.
In today's day and age most couples prefer the process known as a planned pregnancy, because of various factors; prime amongst them being the financial well being to support the birth and nurturing of a child. In such cases, the first prenatal visit actually happens prior to actual pregnancy, to see whether one is ready to go off the contraception pills and conceive a baby.
However, in maximum conceptions, one is unaware of the pregnancy until actual realization dawns after one skips the first menstrual cycle. Normally doctors except ladies to pay their first visit anywhere between the sixth and twelfth week after conception.
Amniocentesis started in India in 1974 to detect fetal abnormalities. These tests were used to detect gender for the first time in 1979 in Amritsar, Punjab. Later the test was stopped by the Indian Council of Medical Research but it was too late. The benefits of these tests were leaked out and people started using it as an instrument for killing an innocent and unborn girl child. Many of the traditional women organizations also took up cudgels to stop this illegal practice but all failed and with the passage of time these tests became a major contributor to bias against a girl child.

Female feticide and infanticide is not the only issues with a girl child in India. At every stage of life she is discriminated and neglected for basic nutrition, education and living standard. When she was in the womb, she was forced to miss the moment when she was supposed to enter the world. At the time of birth her relatives pulled her back and wrung her neck. After killing her she was thrown into a trash can.

During childhood, her brother was loaded with new shoes, dresses and books to learn while she was gifted a broom, a wiper and lots of tears. In her teenage, she missed tasty delicious food to eat and got only the crumbs. During her college days, she was forced to get married, a stage where illiteracy, lack of education resulted in high fertility rate, aggravating the condition of females in the country. Again if this female gives birth to a girl child, the journey begins once again. She missed all roses of life and was finally fitted to a graveyard. That's where she got peace of mind.

The nation of mothers still follows a culture where people idolizes son and mourns daughters. UN figures out that about 750,000 girls are aborted every year in India. Abortion rates are increasing in almost 80% of the India states, mainly Punjab and Haryana. These two states have the highest number of abortions every year. If the practice continues, then no longer a day will come when Mother India will have no mothers, potentially, no life.

We all are proud citizens of India. The need of hour is to realize our responsibilities and give a halt to this evil crime. What can we do to curb the brutal and undesirable practice of mass killing girls? A determined drive can initiate a spark to light the lamp and show the world that we all are part of the great Mother India.

Dowry System in India !!

Dowry System
in India !!

Join SmileWorld

Women of today are walking shoulder to shoulder with men in all aspects of life. In the age old historic times, women were restricted within the four walls of the house but now they are moving out to explore various opportunities and be self-dependent. Inspite of this kind of modernization and the increasing role of women in various fields of life, the practice of dowry is still prevailing in the country.

Dowry is a curse for the Indian society as utter disrespect for women is clearly showcased in this issue. This is a pitiful situation for our motherland where women of the country and tortured and burnt alive for meeting the requirements of dowry. The tradition of giving money to the groom's family in marriage was attributed to the feeling of love and affection infused within the heart of the bride's parents. Parents of the bride used to give money, jewellery, and various other sources of comfort to ensure that their daughter live a happy and joyful life after marriage. Sadly, this love and affection got transformed to a selfish motive. The tradition became a burden on bride's parents but a source of joy and contentment for the groom or their parents.

The problem is more disturbing and challenging in the rural areas and villages. Infact today dowry has become a major element of settling a marriage or even the only condition of letting the marriage go on. Isn't this a shame for our country? The agility, self-respect, humbleness, and innocence of a woman are measured by the component of dowry. It is believed that woman is the best gift God gifted us but even then she is ill-treated just to fill someone's pocket. When a marriage is fixed no one is concern as to how smart, intelligent, and homely the girl is but all that matters is how much cash and luxuries will she get home. Is this the cause God created women? If not then why are women ill-treated and why is there innocence being buried under deep stacks of cash notes?

The Government of India has also taken good initiatives to combat the issue from deep within the root. With the key motive to prohibit the heavy demand in dowry, government introduced the Dowry Prohibition Act on 1st July 1961. Later on, many amendments were added to the Act in order to keep a strict eye on this kind of cruelty. According to the Act anyone taking or giving dowry can be sentenced to imprisonment for 5 years and a fine of Rs 15,000 or the value of dowry if that is more. When a strict rule is prevailing in the country then why women are still facing the problem? It's really shocking to record the statistics of dowry in the country that shows a steady rise. Rather than subsiding, it is continuously increasing with more and more women getting burnt to ashes. Researches have dictated that about 9, 5000 women in India are stabbed to death over the dowry issue. The statistics are more in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh but sadly the largest IT sector of the country Bangalore has also recorded an alarming rise.

The evil has spread its tentacles across the country. Women are trying hard to save their lives with the support of legal amendments, media support, serious activism, and heightened awareness. Despite of all these protest why India is still holding the stigma of dowry? Why not women can be completely relieved from this pain and burden?

The practice continues unabated on a very large scale. It"s high time for us all to wake up and give a serious call to this alarming issue of dowry system in India.

Safe Surfing Tips For Children !!

Safe Surfing
Tips For Children

Just like you wouldn't want to surf in real water when you don't know how to swim, you don't want to enter the Internet without knowing the rules of safety, would you?.
Here are some tips to follow while surfing the net.

1) DON'T CHAT WITH STRANGERS-

Your Parents are RIGHT when they say "DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS". As far as possible NEVER talk with strangers in ADULT chat rooms. You really don't know who the person is that you are chatting with.  Because you can't see or even hear the person it would be very easy for someone to mislead you. People on the Internet can pretend to be anyone or anything they want.

Remember that people online may not be who they say they are.

Don't let them fool you. If you like to chat, make sure that your parents know that you are chatting, where you're chatting, with whom you're chatting, and what information you are giving people. Never use bad language & don't get into arguments with or answer anyone who uses bad language.

If you still chat, use a fun name when you're online, not your real name (not even your real first name). Don't ever give them your phone number or address. YES.  Never give your name, address, phone number, credit card information to anyone. This is very important. People can track you down through the  telephone directory, so be careful.

Never talk to anyone you met online over the phone, send them anything or accept anything from them or agree to meet with them unless your parents agree and are with you. Never show your picture online to someone without your parents' consent.

2) E-MAIL SAFETY-

Never open up any e-mail or attached files or web pages that you receive  from people you don't know. If it looks suspicious or odd, delete it without opening it. Or ask your parents to look at it first. Sometimes e mails may contain viruses which could harm your computer. Remember the famous pokeman virus which came disguised as a cute animation in e mails but which was actually a virus.

          ....Pokeman

Ask your parents to install the latest anti-virus programmes. If someone is sending you e mails you don't like tell your parents. Never reply to e mails from strangers.

3)ASK AND SURF.

Only surf where your parents have given you permission. There's a reason why they restrict your surfing area and you should listen to them. If a web site looks suspicious or has a warning page about you being underage, leave immediately. Some sites are not meant for kids Do not go exploring.

If you come across a site that you aren't sure about ask your parents. Don't download any applications from the internet that are from questionable sites. Some sites have viruses which come free with the downloads ! So be very careful with downloads. Better be safe than sorry.
4)PASSWORDS.

Passwords are a secret so don't give out your passwords to anyone. Keep it with you like you would keep a secret of your friend.

5)BE PROTECTED

Ask your parents to install child-safe browsers meant for children. These browsers help & guide you to visit good and safe sites and automatically protect you from the bad ones.

6)SET YOUR TIME

Don't spend all your time online. Set a time limit on your computer use.

7)FUN TO LEARN-INTERNET SAFETY SITES-

There are some sites on the internet which make internet safety really fun to learn. Visit them with your parents and learn safe surfing with them. They are really colorful and fun to visit.
So, with a little care & understanding, we can all make this internet a safe & better place.

10 Tips For Healthy Eating

http://fetrasil.com/images-fetrasil/health_tips.jpg

  1. Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods. You need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food supplies them all. Your daily food selection should include bread and other whole-grain products; fruits; vegetables; dairy products; and meat, poultry, fish and other protein foods.
  2. Enjoy plenty of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Do you eat 6-11 servings from the bread, rice, cereal and pasta group, 3 of which should be whole grains? Do you eat 2-4 servings of fruit and 3-5 servings of vegetables? If you don't enjoy some of these at first, give them another chance.
  3. Maintain a healthy weight. The weight that's right for you depends on many factors including your sex, height, age and heredity. Excess body fat increases your chances for high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, some types of cancer and other illnesses. But being too thin can increase your risk for osteoporosis, menstrual irregularities and other health problems.
  4. Eat moderate portions. If you keep portion sizes reasonable, it's easier to eat the foods you want and stay healthy. A medium piece of fruit is 1 serving and a cup of pasta equals 2 servings. A pint of ice cream contains 4 servings.
  5. Eat regular meals. Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you're very hungry, it's also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don't eat so much that your snack becomes an entire meal.
  6. Reduce, don't eliminate certain foods. Most people eat for pleasure as well as nutrition. If your favorite foods are high in fat, salt or sugar, the key is moderating how much of these foods you eat and how often you eat them.
Identify major sources of these ingredients in your diet and make changes, if necessary. Adults who eat high-fat meats or whole-milk dairy products at every meal are probably eating too much fat.
If you love fried chicken, however, you don't have to give it up. Just eat it less often. When dining out, share it with a friend, ask for a take-home bag or a smaller portion.
  7. Balance your food choices over time. Not every food has to be "perfect." When eating a food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If you miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Your food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern.
  8. Know your diet pitfalls. To improve your eating habits, you first have to know what's wrong with them. Write down everything you eat for three days. Then check your list according to the rest of these tips. Do you add a lot of butter, creamy sauces or salad dressings? Rather than eliminating these foods, just cut back your portions. Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? If not, you may be missing out on vital nutrients.
  9. Make changes gradually. Just as there are no "superfoods" or easy answers to a healthy diet, don't expect to totally revamp your eating habits overnight. Changing too much, too fast can get in the way of success. Begin to remedy excesses or deficiencies with modest changes that can add up to positive, lifelong eating habits. For instance, if you don't like the taste of skim milk, try low-fat. Eventually you may find you like skim, too.
  10. Remember, foods are not good or bad. Select foods based on your total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is "good" or "bad." Don't feel guilty if you love foods such as apple pie, potato chips, candy bars or ice cream. Eat them in moderation, and choose other foods to provide the balance and variety that are vital to good health.

KINDNESS & GENEROSITY

Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was a compassionate and a generous man.

He had a mellifluous behavior even towards the people who belonged to the lowest societal stratum.

There was a servant in Vidyasagar’s house who used to do all the household chores.

Vidyasagar always showed him affection and treated him like his family members.

One day, when Vidyasagar was descending the stairs of his house,

he saw his servant sleeping on the

staircase with a letter in his hand. Vidyasagar slowly took out the letter from his hand

and read it and came to know about the bad news.

Vidyasagar saw that the servant had a streak of tears on his face,

perhaps he sobbed himself to sleep.

Seeing his servant in this condition the feeling of sympathy evoked in

Vidyasagar’s heart. He went inside the room and brought a hand fan and started

fanning his servant so that he could sleep comfortably.

At the same time, one of Vidyasagar’s friend came there and

seeing such a situation said astoundingly,

“You are too much! How can you be engaged in the service of a servant

whose salary is hardly seven-eight bucks?”

Vidyasagar said, “My father also used to earn seven-eight bucks in a month.

I remember one day while my father was returning home he felt unconscious and fell on the road,

and a passerby helped him with water. In my servant, I can see the image of my late father.”

Moral:

Purity of heart is not only reflected through sweet words but also through the conduct.

An affectionate behavior towards one and all underscores generosity and dignity.

Therefore, we must be kind and generous towards everyone.

Touching life story...

http://www.completetrainer.co.uk/lg_images/Life_Story_Icebreaker.jpg
A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL.
